Introduction

Len Murray is widely recognised as one of the country's top after-dinner speakers. He has spoken throughout the UK and on four continents, from Edmonton in the West to Singapore in the East. He has been variously described as: "hilarious", "incredibly funny", "brilliant", "highly entertaining", "superb", and "side-splitting". Excerpts from various testimonials which he has received appear later on this website.

He is very experienced in corporate and sporting events of all kinds and is a former winner of the prestigious Wag of the Year competition.
Len is a Glaswegian by birth and practised as a solicitor in Glasgow for over forty years .  He is now retired and he says that he wishes he had done so years ago. So do many of his former clients.

He practised in the Scottish Courts throughout his professional life and he built up one of the most respected law practices in the country. He was once described by a High Court judge as "the most respected pleader of his generation." His colleagues nicknamed him 'The Silver Fox' though they could never be persuaded to say why.

He served on many of the professional bodies connected with the practice of the law and for some years he was Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee of the Law Society of Scotland. He was also a member of the part-time staff of Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities and a guest lecturer at the Scottish Police College, Tulliallan. He also served as a Temporary Sheriff and was a part-time Chairman of Employment Tribunals for many years. He is now Ambassador for Glasgow Caledonian University.

For many years he was associated with headline cases for headline people and Paul McCartney, Billy Connolly, David Sole of Starsky and Hutch fame were among those he represented as well as Tommy Docherty, Jock Wallace and the legendary Jock Stein.  He was also legal adviser to Scottish Television, ITN and Times Newspapers.

Len was the first ever media spokesman for the Law Society of Scotland in litigation matters and in that capacity he appeared regularly on radio and television over the years where his views were sought on a wide range of topics. They were, however, according to him, seldom heeded. He still makes occasional contributions on radio, television and in the press.

He played football in his youth and at University. He was once told that there was only one reason he was not chosen to represent the Scottish Universities - he was not good enough.

His autobiograhy, entitled The Pleader, was published in the Autumn of 2002. It has received excellent reviews. The book is available to buy online. Click the image to be taken to Amazon.co.uk.

He is an Honorary President of Greenock Burns Club, the oldest Burns Club in the world and a Life member of that Club.
